Don’t you care? // 20-03-19

“As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake…But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”” Mark‬ ‭4:35, 37-38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What we need to understand is that where Jesus tells us to go will often take us into stormy waters. Being with Him doesn’t mean we won’t find ourselves in scary situations. And how often do we respond in the same way as the disciples, ‘Don’t you care?’ ‘If you loved me you wouldn’t put me through this!’ But God is more concerned with our character than our comfort, and He wants to teach us too that with Him we don’t have to be afraid, He is not panicked, and as we call on His name He can calm anything and He will build in us, like He did in the disciples, a world-changing faith! Troubles and trials can slow you or they can grow you, we get to choose! Let’s change our perspective, and may we know the peace of the Lord with us today 😊
