“I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer.” Psalms 63:2-4 NLT
This Psalm actually starts by the writer describing a longing for God when everything feels dry and weary and lacking. Just like I said yesterday, the first thing the psalmist does is to look UP. to focus on where God is and what He is like. But he also does something else, he lifts UP… firstly lifting up his voice in praise but then lifting up his hands in prayer. The act of lifting up hands to reach out to God is also a posture of surrender! Try it, and go read the rest of Psalm 63, the result for the psalmist was, “You satisfy me more than the richest feast.” 🙌🏼🙏🏼
