“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” Hebrews 12:11 NLT
Pain doesn’t just have a protective purpose, it can also teach us! Discipline comes from the Latin word ‘discipulus’ meaning learner. To be disciplined means to be corrected, to learn what is right and helpful and to stop what is wrong and destructive. Whether that is being disciplined by your parent or disciplined as an Olympic athlete, there is pain involved in the learning but it trains me to live well, to be self-controlled and to be the best I can be, if I’ll listen! Lord, help me to see everything as training that will move me forward in Your good plans, especially the painful things! 🙏🏼
