“He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” John 3:30 NLT
These were the words of John the Baptist, who had come to prepare the way and point people to Jesus, not build up his own following! Let’s echo his words because I don’t know about you, but my biggest problem in life is ‘Me!’ And the more I focus on me, the worse the problem gets, because more of me, more of pursuing my own selfish interests, more making life about what I want, more acting on my feelings, actually has a detrimental impact on my spiritual health and on the people around me. But when I focus more on Jesus, and getting to know Him, when He is first in my life then I get more of His wisdom, more of His love growing in me, along with all the other fruit of the Spirit, more of His leading and direction, more of His good, pleasing and perfect will, and that has an eternal impact, unlocks a divine sense of identity and destiny, and helps introduce many others to their Saviour too. Lord, may this year be marked by so much more of You and so much less of me! Amen 🙏🏼
