“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honour at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” Colossians 3:1-2 NLT
This chapter of Colossians is entitled, ‘Living the new life.’ Because of all that Jesus has done we get a new start, the moment we believe and trust in Him, the slate gets wiped clean, and we are forgiven and set free to pursue His Kingdom purpose! And yet, so many of us struggle to actually live this new life. We love the idea of salvation and heaven but there’s very little hope, or evidence, of transformation or pursuing God’s will. This verse tells us why that might be. Our spiritual state might have changed but our minds have not yet been reset, our thoughts still very much orientated onto earthly things and consumed by self, whereas this new life has to be lived from the perspective of eternity with our eyes on Jesus! We’ve got to remind ourselves all the time that this life is only temporary. Lord, help me not to get so hung up on what I think I is best for me in the here and now, that I miss out on what You know is best for me in the light of Your Kingdom. Come and change the way I think so I can truly know Your will and live this resurrected life, my sight set on the reality of heaven and my life transformed to be more like You. I choose to lift my eyes up today. Amen 🙏🏼
