“Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered and anxious about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part [that which is to her advantage], which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42 AMP
My heart goes out to Martha, she’s there cooking the meal, busy trying to get everything ready for everyone else, and she’s not getting any help from her sister and she’s feeling exasperated. I can feel like that at times, too much to do, overwhelmed, frustrated and rather than going to God to hear Him, I go to complain to Him and to tell Him what He should do. The response of Jesus cuts to the heart of the issue, ‘You are allowing temporary things, which might seem so important, get in the way of what is most important.’ Mary had prioritised the better position, getting as close to Jesus as she could, and hanging on to His every word. And it’s not that there aren’t things to do, but God wants us to know that in prioritising our relationship with Him, ears attuned to His leading, we won’t be so worried, bothered or anxious about things, instead we will be faith filled and fuelled to do what He wants us to do. Now that’s to our advantage! Lord, thank You for Your very present help. In the busyness of today help me to keep my eyes and ears on You, strong in faith for all You need me to do. Amen 🙌🏼😊
