“So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.” Matthew 25:13 NLT
This warning from Jesus comes at the end of a parable about ten bridesmaids waiting for the groom to arrive. All of them became drowsy and fell asleep when the groom was delayed, but when the shout came to get up only five had enough oil to keep their lamps alight and identify themselves to the groom. The other five, whose lamps had gone out were too busy trying to locate oil elsewhere and they missed out. So Jesus says, ‘Be ready, keep watch!’ In the waiting we are all likely to get spiritually tired at times, but don’t be found asleep and without enough oil. Wake up, stay alight, be filled with the Holy Spirit, look for Jesus, hope in Jesus, and be ready for His return, He always keeps His promises! Lord, save me from complacency, help me to fan aflame the gift within, alert and expectant for all You are going to do. Amen 🙌🏼😊
