“But what good is salt if it has lost its flavour? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.” Matthew 5:13 NLT
It’s a fact that pure salt can’t lose its flavour, that only happens if it is mixed with other chemicals or diluted too much. From the manner in which salt was gathered in biblical times, earth and other impurities were collected with it, and when exposed to rain and sun, it did become insipid and useless and was actually detrimental to ground being fruitful, which is why it was cast out into the street. It’s a picture of what happens when truth gets mixed with other ideologies, or when the gospel gets so watered down it has no effect – it’s like salt that has lost its saltiness, just trampled underfoot, ignored and fruitless! Lord Jesus, save me from compromise, from anything that leads to lukewarm, diluted, powerless Christianity. Make me holy, set me apart for Your good purpose today, keep me pure, and may I be increasingly fruitful in faith. Amen 🧂🙏🏼
