“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
That great cloud of witnesses that surrounds us is laid out in the previous chapter of Hebrews, people of faith who have gone before us, some who saw the results of their faith in their lifetime, but many who didn’t, but they ran their race anyway, they kept going in the knowledge that God’s plan and His promise for a Kingdom future was worth living and dying for. Their lives pointed to Jesus, and they stand as reminders, and as inspiration that He is worth it all, motivating us to give our best too! Today is All Saints Day, let’s take a moment to thank God for those who have pioneered the way, who kept the faith and proclaimed the Gospel, let’s remember those who have inspired us, those who led us to Jesus. Lord, help me to be someone who points to You this week, use my faith to bring Your hope and help to another, and give me the joy of leading someone to a life-changing encounter with You. Amen 🙏🏼
