‘Above all else,’ it is that important, because what I allow into my heart to take root will influence how I feel and the decisions I then make in word and deed. We may not be able to control the things that come against us but we can stop them infecting our hearts, things like: Hurt, Exhaustion, Anger, Resentment, Tension (fear/anxiety)! Allow these things to clog up your heart, and you are susceptible to becoming worn out and burned out, they will suck all the joy and peace and life from you! Don’t give the enemy any leeway to steal, kill or destroy what God has given you and what He has called you to. If you are aware of any of those things taking residence in your heart then that is the alert to get to Jesus asap, come to Him, get away with Him, because only He is able to give that real rest and relief, anything else will just anaesthetise you for a time and then leave you feeling worse; that drink, food, pill, website etc. I don’t know anyone who ends up feeling better in the long run when they turn to those things to manage a troubled heart. Lord, help me to be alert, to guard my heart, and to stay in Your perfect peace this week. Amen ❤️🙏🏼
