“I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.” Habakkuk 2:1 NLT
Yesterday two people messaged me, both referencing this same verse, which certainly got my attention! Habakkuk had some legitimate questions about evil in the world, questions that many people still ask God today! He didn’t just complain though or stop trusting God because of his questions, instead he was watchful, positioning himself to wait and see, to understand. And even though God’s answers raised more questions initially, he resolved to put His trust in God’s plan, to patiently wait on Him, and it changed his perspective, and it changed the way he prayed! In fact it stirred a song within him, “I have heard all about you, Lord. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by.” Habakkuk 3:2 NLT
Lord, I know that You are still working Your purposes out, and still being so patient with us. Thank You for Your mercy. Forgive us for our dereliction of duty, for the times we have not listened. Remind us again of all You have done before, and may You find us present and watchful as we look to be part of what You are doing today. Amen 🙏🏼
