“The one who believes in the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies confidently on Him as Saviour] has the testimony within himself [because he can speak authoritatively about Christ from his own personal experience]…And the testimony is this: God has given us eternal life [we already possess it], and this life is in His Son [resulting in our spiritual completeness, and eternal companionship with Him].” 1 John 5:10-11 AMP
If I am going to speak out authoritatively as a Christian then I need to have personal experience of the saving work of Jesus in my life? If asked, could I articulate what He has done for me and how my life has changed as a result? Is that testimony we’ve just read, about possessing a new life starting in the here and now and lasting forever, my testimony? Do I have that confident assurance found in relationship with God, through Jesus, and if so, then in what ways am I now adhering to, trusting in, and confidently relying on Him as evidence of my growing friendship with Him? It’s worth giving these questions some thought so we have an answer when asked to share our faith, but it may be that those questions are an enigma? If so then go to Jesus, go back to the cross, revisit the empty tomb, receive the life He has bought for you, and make the decision to pursue it! Lord, thank You for all You have accomplished on my behalf, thank You for saving me and for making a way for me to know You. Lord, I want to know You more, to live the life You have planned for me, to do what You have called me to do! Help me not to just know about life eternal, but to own it right here, right now! May Your testimony be my testimony, and may You give me increasing opportunities to share it. Amen 🙌🏼🔥
