“‘Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?’ The expert in the law replied, ‘The one who had mercy on him.’ Jesus told him, ‘Go and do likewise.’” Luke 10:36-37 NIVUK
These are the last two verses of the story of the Good Samaritan. The two characters who you thought would have helped, the priest and the Levite (full time workers in the temple) walked on by, too scared, too busy maybe? The one who stopped to help was of a different culture, but his compassion marked him out as a true neighbour! Lord, help me to have the margin to stop and help, to respond with compassion and kindness to those who need help the most, regardless of background or culture. May I be known, not for my ‘religious’ activity, but for my reach to those in need of love, healing and restoration. Amen ❤️
