“Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.” John 17:17 NLT
The whole of chapter 17 is entitled, ‘The prayer of Jesus.’ It starts focused on His disciples, for their protection, that they would be set apart for His purpose, and then He goes on to pray for all those who will ever believe in Him! Go read the whole chapter if you can, but this verse jumped out at me this morning, that if we’re going to be made holy, set apart to do the will of God, then we need to be rooted in truth, we need to be taught truth, we need to be in an environment where we can hear truth, and that truth, according to Jesus is God’s Word! We need to be Bible literate, we need to know what God says, we need His perspective and know His instruction. Lord, teach me Your Word which is truth, save me from deception, feed me and grow me in knowledge and understanding and faith, that I might grow in relationship with You and grow in my love for You and others. Train me by Your Word I pray that I might be equipped for Your service. Amen 📖🙏🏼
