“Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”” Lamentations 3:21-24 NLT
We sing a song in church based on these verses called, ‘My single certainty,’ and there’s a refrain of, ‘I will remember!’ This book of Lamentations comprises of songs/poems/prayers that express pain, sorrow, and confusion. The city of God lies in ruins, and the people have been exiled. When all seemed lost, when there seemed to be no way back, this book demonstrates the purpose and the power of turning to God, laying out our complaints, asking Him for help, and choosing to trust in Him! Lord, this world is full of troubles and trials, times when I don’t fully understand where I am or what’s going on, or how things can ever change! So please help me to remember today that which I can know as certainty, that Your mercies are new every morning and there is always another chance with You – thank You; that Your faithfulness won’t run out on me – thank You; that my future is secure in Your hands, so I can put my hope fully in You – thank You! Help me to carry that certain hope into this new day and be a messenger of hope to those who are feeling hopeless right now. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼❤️
