“If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer. Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.” Psalm 66:18-20 NLT
I think all of us deep down are looking for attention, because there is a need in all of us to feel noticed and valued. Without knowing you’ve been wonderfully created, chosen by God and loved by Him for a good purpose there will always be a deficit, because we were designed to live in His care with the value that only He can give us. There’s a horrible expression I used to hear a lot when I worked in mental health, where troubled people were accused of being attention seekers, and I’ll never forget what one Psychiatrist told me, that people are never just attention seekers, they are seeking attention (often in unhelpful ways) because they need attention and they don’t know how else to get it. If only we realised that the attention we really need is found in connecting with the One who made us! Lord, thank You for loving me, for showing me how valuable I am to You. Thank You that You pay us all the attention that we truly need as we turn to You. May I live today in the light of Your great love for me. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼❤️
