”Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT
This was God’s response to Paul when he prayed for something in his life, that was causing him grief, to be taken away! God won’t always answer our prayers in the affirmative, He won’t always remove us from difficult situations or remove things from our lives that we would rather weren’t there. Instead He promises that His grace is enough, that HIS power works best when we understand how weak we really are, and He invites us to trust Him, to lean on Him, to keep our focus on Him! For Paul, this kept him humble and useable as He depended on God for all that He needed. In the words of a great hymn:
When Satan tempts me to despair, And tells me of the guilt within, Upward I look, and see Him there, Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died, My sinful soul is counted free; For God, the Just, is satisfied To look on Him and pardon me.
Behold Him there, the risen Lamb! My perfect, spotless Righteousness, The great unchangeable I AM, The King of glory and of grace.
One with Himself, I cannot die;
My soul is purchased by His blood; My life is hid with Christ on high, With Christ, my Saviour and my God!
Thank You Lord that at the start of this year I can know that Your grace is sufficient and Your power IS at work in me. Amen 👆🏼❤️🙏🏼
