“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 NLT
I woke up this morning with two words in my mind, ‘Be vigilant!’ Which means to be keenly watchful to detect danger! It reminded me of the above verse. At the same time Rach was having a dream about being followed by three alligators, which initially made her scared and ready to run but when she actually looked at them they had flat faces with no teeth! This is such a great picture of our enemy, always prowling about trying to induce fear and yet when we stand firm, strong in our trusting of Jesus, he is toothless, in fact another verse (James 4:7) says that if we submit to God and resist the devil he will have to flee! At church yesterday we saw people responding to the gospel, taking that turn towards Jesus and I’m guessing the enemy isn’t best pleased, so I’m on high alert today, feeling very protective over the people God has given me to Pastor. The devil will always see people on the fringe of community as easier pickings, so if you are feeling more isolated and vulnerable right now then please get in touch! Lord, thank you that the enemy’s power is so limited compared to Your eternal power. Help me to stay alert today, confident of Your presence and strong in my faith to resist and to see the devil flee. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼👊🏼
