“God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life. Don’t throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness in me. Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails! Give me a job teaching rebels your ways so the lost can find their way home.” Psalm 51:10-13 MSG
This is part of Psalm written by King David, a prayer for mercy, for restoration after he had spectacularly got things wrong!
He had slept with another mans’s wife (Bathsheba) and got her pregnant, and then had the husband murdered to cover his tracks. But God knew and He sent the prophet Nathan to confront David with the hard truth of what he had done. Psalm 51 is David’s prayer for forgiveness and redemption and although there were consequences to his actions, God was able to redeem him and use the situation for good! Amazingly, Jesus’ family line as listed in Matthew includes Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba)! Lord, thank you that there is always another chance with you, thank you that Your heart is for restoration, not condemnation, thank You that You can redeem my life, now use me for Your glory. Amen 🙌🏼😊
