“You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.” Mark 8:33 NIVUK
Jesus was trying to teach His disciples about His mission of salvation, that He would suffer and be rejected, that He must be killed but would rise again! His disciple Peter rebuked Him, He had his own thoughts on what Jesus would and should do as Messiah and dying wasn’t in those plans. The verse above was Jesus’ response! Peter illustrates how we so often approach God, with a human mindset and focused on the here and now! On one level we are human so of course we see things from a human viewpoint, and our human concerns are the things that fill our minds. But these words of Jesus remind us that there is a bigger picture, there is a heavenly perspective, and God is working His purposes out that I might not fully understand yet, but will I still trust Him? Will I let go of thinking I know best and trying to make God see things my way? Will I open my mind to seeing things His way? Lord, help me not to get so consumed with my everyday human concerns that I miss out on the greater things You are doing. Teach me Your ways and let me know Your mind that I might walk in Your will this week. Amen 🙏🏼
