“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7 NLT
Trees cannot grow strong, or have the longevity that they do without good roots. Roots anchor the tree so that it doesn’t fall, it is through the roots that vital nutrients are taken in and up so that they can bear fruit. But roots are only as good as the soil they are planted in! It makes me think, how well are my roots growing down into Christ? Am I trying to get nutrients from the soil of His truth or am I trying to build my life on some other soil? Lord, I don’t want to be a tree that falls over when the wind and rain of difficulties come. I want to grow strong in faith, my life marked by thankfulness for who You are, and for what You’ve done, no matter what comes my way! Lord, May my roots grip tighter and grow deeper as I pray and read Your word, owning my place in the community of Your Church, with my eyes and heart fixed on You in worship. As I take care of the roots that people don’t see, Lord I trust You to grow the fruit that they do. Amen 🙌🏼😊
