“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 NIVUK
We so need a revelation of what love really is! It’s not just some lovely feeling that comes and goes, but a sacrificial commitment to the wellbeing of another. God created us to be loved by Him, to trust in His love and to love Him back, the foundation of any great relationship! That relationship with Him was fatally damaged though when we decided not to trust Him, but to instead follow our own thoughts and feelings, to live by our own rules. But that turning away from the very source of life resulted in death to us! Without Him how can we ever know who we really are or what we are here for? And is there even a way back? Well left to our own devices, no, there is nothing we can do to earn back what we lost and we certainly don’t deserve to. But God was still committed to us, His love did not falter, and He planned to make a way back for us – through Jesus! His perfect life would pay off the death penalty once and for all, dying in our place so that we could know forgiveness, freedom, and the assurance of a future with Him, a restored relationship. Oh that we would know this incredible love of God and be able to love Him back! It takes turning to Him, the very message of Jesus ‘Repent!’ Turn back to the best. Lord, thank You for showing me how loved I am, that You would die for me! Help me to show that same love to everyone I meet today. Amen 🙌🏼❤️
