“O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy have the upper hand? Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die. Don’t let my enemies gloat, saying, “We have defeated him!” Don’t let them rejoice at my downfall. But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.”
Psalms 13:1-6 NLT
I love the raw honesty expressed in the Psalms, this prayer of lament right here that doesn’t hold back from asking the tough questions when circumstances are confusing and God seems so far away. But see how it finishes, as David pours out His heart, He begins to reaffirm what He knows to be true about God, and his groans turn to praise, and His faith goes into action. Lord, thank You that regardless of how I might feel at times, Your love is unfailing, You have not abandoned me, You have rescued me and You have been good to me. Help me to remember Your promise, to trust You even when I can’t trace You, and to rejoice in all that You have done today. And as I draw close to You may I sense Your presence in a real and tangible way. Amen 👆🏼🙏🏼
If you are struggling like this right now do let me or someone else know so we can be praying for you. God’s presence is often seen and felt as we connect with others in the family of faith, in the body of Christ ❤️
